Product Description

Black fight shorts, ideal for submission wrestling and MMA. With a Spandex/Lycra flex panel running through the inside of the legs and groin, they stretch easily. These shorts are SUPER comfortable. With the stretch panel, they don’t need to be as “baggy” to allow the same freedom of movement found in other fight shorts (though they are a bit more baggy than “everyday” board shorts on purpose).

They also have an internal drawstring, velcro closure on the front/fly and an elastic waistband. As with all of our shorts, they are not heavy material common to some swim suits and board shorts, but a light weight material for maximum comfort and flexibility. Made with fighting and working out in mind, everything about them was done with their primary purpose in mind.

The waist is ELASTIC but see our size chart for an accurate waist measurement before ordering. Also be sure to use your actual waist measurement, NOT your pants size to get the best fit.

These shorts are made of 80% polyester and 20% nylon. They are not “slick” (like 100% poly) nor “sticky” like a microfiber would be.

Just a short review. They’re comfortable, fit tight where they should be(waist) and flexible enough in other areas to maneuver with ease. I can do all the kicking and stretching with no problems wearing these, and don’t feel restricted in movement whatsoever. They’ve got a beastly velcro fastener that runs up the front with a velcro flap at the top that I can’t imagine would ever come undone. Then to make doubly sure they don’t slip, there’s an inside shoestring-type tie that secures these to your hips. The logo is subtle so the shorts don’t become an eyesore (some manufacturers out there get loud with their designs and logos.) I recommend these.

I preface this by saying that finding womens fight shorts that are functional and not concerned with the sexy factor is nearly impossible. So I thought I’d try Piranha’s men’s shorts with the flex panel. I ordered a small, hoping that my legs would not get lost in the shorts. I also liked the price, in case they didn’t work out. The shorts arrived practically the next day with a personal letter from the company owner. To be honest, I didn’t expect the quality of the shorts for the price I was willing to pay. I could tell at a glance that the flex panel was going to add comfort to my workouts. The materials was light, yet strong. Unfortunately, mens sizing being what it is, the shorts did not fit well enough on my thighs. I sent a hopeful email out through the Piranha website, expecting at most the offer to exchange. What I got was a heartfelt apology and acknowledgement that womens shorts are difficult to find and difficult to design. They offered an immediate, hassle-free exchange to try to xsmall. When the extra smalls didn’t work (mens sizing just doesn’t work for most women) I was offered a full refund. Though the shorts themselves did not work for my size, the quality-for-price ratio and the amazing customer service has made me a Piranha fan.

Bought these for my first grappling tourney this weekend. The sizing guide was right-on, and they are extremely comfortable. Velcro closure with inner drawstring make sure they cinch to the size you need. The side slits and inside-thigh flex panel made for great freedom of movement without worrying about adjusting the fit or having my movement impeded during matches. These are my new favorite BJJ shorts.

The Piranha Gear shorts are hard to beat for the price. The quality is very comparable to other much higher priced shorts (Kaizen, Sprawl, Reevo, Etc.) but at a cheaper price. I got mine on sale for under $30. The flex panel in the crotch area is not as wide as some other brands, but in the functionality of the shorts I have yet to notice the difference. Once again for the price you can not beat the value.
